Rabbit R1 review: somehow worse?
Переглядів 145 тис.4 години тому
The adorable, whimsical and a very orange Rabbit R1 is here and it left us wondering if these AI-powered gadgets are even a good idea. The most intriguing tech in the R1 is what Rabbit calls the “Large Action Model”. Where a large language model, or LAM, is all about analyzing and creating text, the LAM is supposed to be about doing stuff. But in our week-long testing, the R1 has consistently p...

I'd like to see how this compares to something like the bog standard Google Assistant or Siri. Because i can understand the concept of using LLM's to better understand commands, but is it really better than what had had before?
Cool, without a doubt.
In theory it will change the tech landscape but now it's just... 😒. The idea of LAM is cool and innovative but rabbit needs more and more data in which they using the early developers try to do but if your average person... don't bother buying it. AI one day will be incredible like a year or a few but today, its very underwhelming. Also smartphones exist so I feel the big brands will steal these ideas and make their version which will be better and replace these things anyway.
“I CANNOT SET TIMERS 😃”
Jup thats it, i'm cancelling my order
Better than my iPhone because you get music. Siri just tells me sometimes to unlock my phone first... which is in my running backpack on my run. What is the use of Siri then? Yes, I have checked that Siri can be used if the mobile is locked. 4 year old random bug tells people on Reddit.
None of those devices have any sense when anyone on this planet carry on a smartphone in the pocket, what's the point.

Got my rabbit today and you can't open one single website without being subscribed to it. You can't teach it, you can't scan documents, pretty much everything that Jessie did in the announcement party is totally foreign to the one in my hand. So you will literally have to be subscribed to about 100 different sights to just use the device like Jessie said it would work.
good thumbnail dude! 👍
Just skipped through this in my podcast app. Only here to check: Five comments in over a day with 3.35M Subs. Sounds about right. That was cr4p. (yes, I am lying - I didn't skip. I am just embarrassed to admit that I listened to it all..)
"AI" confidently wrong.
it is possible if motherboard supports all generation cpus then its a peace of cake if only ryzen was in this market as old as nvidia it is truly ammazing they alredy competing with them
seems Siri is way ahead here
It literally just an android app.
There goes someone's nascient investment.
This should just be an app on your phone.
It is just an Android APK and there is no special hardware in the R1.
The issue there is that it can't do anything better than the apps that are already on your phone.
They know people don't pay any higher dollar amounts for apps on your phone, and subscriptions are like pulling teeth. This is them trying to sneak past that in the dumbest way possible by making it a whole new device that is not in any way specialized to run it. They just want enough initial sales to get them to the point where they get acquired.
AI gadget exit scams

Do I need a table for it and possibly a non static surface?
I want one just for the comic relief! 😂🤖
Wondering has this product ever gone thru Shark Tank?🤣😂😅
Okay, I’m a cyclist and I could see this having potential (if it worked lol). If I need something that I have to use my phone for I stop, and pull my phone out because I do not want to break or crack my phone. So if there was like a rugged little thing I could clip on my backpack, ESPECIALLY at that size for my random ADHD questions I would love that. Ooo and if it could sync to my headphones perfectly I’d buy it.
None of all those cars and gadgets ever make it to the public.
What a deep troath take was that, fear ?
To be fair, IS a curved chip a taco?!! Feels like more of a philosophical question…
Imagine buying a watch that only told you the time sometimes. Or a car that sometimes didn’t accelerate or always stop when asked. Or a cooker where sometimes the grill worked, but sometimes not. Or central heating that would randomly set the temperature. Surely such purchases would be sent right back for a refund? But, because it’s a “cutting edge” AI device people seem willing to overlook all these failing by excusing it with a sort of “These people have to start the AI tech revolution somewhere so I’m handing over my money” approach. Manufacturers in the past pretty much made their money by selling things that worked as claimed. Simple really - Trading standards and all that, eh?
I’m not sure why people keep comparing this or the AI Pin to a phone quite so much when the sort of marketing line is to stop you having to pull out your phone all the time. I can’t speak for non-Apple devices, but what I’d compare it to most is my Apple Watch. What’s the time? How do I get somewhere, what is the weather, play Bohemian Rhapsody, message Fred, read my emails, etc. Etc. All without pulling my iPhone out from wherever it is. The watch has a working touch screen, you can scroll through lists and it’s easy to navigate, The Apple Watch doesn’t (yet) have a camera so it can’t identify things (which I find a mostly bizarre use case anyway) but it seems a more appropriate initial comparison point. And when my watch can’t do it, then I’d pull out the iPhone instead.
Siri seems a genius compared to this staff
I really feel like this is trying to solve a problem that just doesn't exist... Surely the smart watches most of us are wearing with a LLM/connection to my phone is the way forward?
Congrats, you invented a wheel without a rim
Professional murder torture tools, look at the super-heavy hats that the Manchus were keen on, and 200 years later, the once ancient civilized country was reduced to a scorched land colonized.
All these gadgets are rushing so clearly unfinished because they know they'll fall into oblivion once Apple and Google adds new AI features into iOS and Android. That and well, the AI is still just not capable enough, any of them. They're trying to get the hype going before their end inevitably reaches
Zuckerburg is a freak
in all honesty the flarf misprisions that the text scanner creates (when reading stuff like that monument plaque) would be the one thing that would compel me to buy one of these things. i love me some good real-time gibberish
pls rabbit & teenage engineering, can we just have a smartphone that looks as cool and fun as the r1
Mine is still working perfectly in 2024

mac OS on iPad is the only update that matters at this point. It can be optional. Just let it happen.
put a digimon monster infront and see how the result
I got an iphone!!!!!
War dogs. Will be armed with a gun, mark my words..
+1 on the vertical filming ugh
Of course he didn’t mention the insane input lag that makes this unplayable.
Do people actually use all that voiced virtual assistant stuff? I much prefer a traditional desktop metaphor
They are running servers to support the device but there is no subscription fee. How is that sustainable?
Tensor G4 better be based on exynos 2400
Can you guys please address the fact that the CEO ran an NFT scam right before starting Rabbit in a future episode? Last May they promised to deliver a "Quantum Engine" through this NFT company and that quickly pivoted into a supposed operating system, which eventually turned into "Rabbit OS". This needs to be a bigger piece of news imo.
